The San Clemente High School Educational Foundation works with the local community to raise supplemental funds to help San Clemente High School achieve “World Class” status in academics. By funding after school counseling and tutorial programs and providing access to all students, we can enhance the educational experience for our SCHS students beyond expectations.
Some of the programs we fund include: twice weekly tutorial sessions in all academic subjects; four year curriculum planning; college and career planning; college admissions seminars and application workshops; and support for Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, and AVID programs.
No other high school in our district is able to offer this kind of attention to its students for college and career preparation.
Voluntary After- School Tutorial: SCEF funds twice weekly after school tutorial sessions of two hours duration, staffed by SCHS teachers covering all the major academic subjects. Each year, over 10,000 hours of tutorial are provided at no cost to the students.
Freshman Four Year Plan Counseling: A trained SCHS teacher meets individually with freshman students and their parents to identify college goals and develop a four year curriculum plan that will qualify the student for admission if satisfactorily completed. Last year, 120 students took advantage of this free service.
Sophomore College Admissions Advisement: Academic Advisors meet individually with students and their parents after school by appointment to review college GPA requirements, curriculum requirements, volunteer requirements and other factors needed for college admissions success.
Senior College Essay and Application Workshops: A team of college counselors, academic advisors and AP English teachers meet with students to review and give feedback on college essays and give guidance on the college application process.
College Knowledge Series: This is a series of s to eight evening seminars by expert presenters for students and parents covering important college topics, including the admission essay, financial aid, and other skills essential for college success.
Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate Test Prep: SCEF funds after school review seminars in all subjects to fully prepare students for national and international testing in 24 advanced subjects.
AVID College Visits: AVID is a program designed to help students whose family history does not include college experience. SCEF funds two or three field trips to local universities designed to enhance the college ambitions of AVID students.
Classroom Books: SCEF purchases classroom books to supplement the textbooks provided by the District.
Innovative Programs: SCEF funding enhances a range of programs to support curriculum and instruction for the 21st Century.
